![]() ![]() WoL made the right choice playing to Smash's strengths by emphasizing just how weird, quirky and fun its fighting can be. The pace of the levels is slow and plodding, and the enemies that you do fight simply aren't that interesting or engaging. It may be shorter, but I find it wears itself thin even faster than WoL does. Subspace had some cool cutscenes and not much else really. The RPG mechanics with Spirits and the collectathon nature of them are also strangely addicting. It doesn't work all of the time, but far more often than not they manage to capture the heart of those characters despite the limitations present. I also find myself constantly surprised and impressed by how inventive they get with the Spirit battles simply by modifying battle conditions.
